In January 2006, JKM Training, Inc. distributed surveys to organizations currently using Safe Crisis Management.  As of February 20, 2006, a total of 70 responses were received.  Here is a summary of the information provided by our responding organizations.

Click on each question to view the results.

  1. Type of organization:

*Many responses classified their organizations as both social service agencies and schools.

  2. Total number of years using SCM:

  3. Total number of certified SCM Instructors:

  4. Total number of staff and hours trained annually in SCM (12 month period):

This response indicates that almost half of all staff trained in SCM at the responding agencies are in their first year of service.

  5. Total number of behavior management incidents annually: (incidents requiring documentation)

  6. Total number of incident resolved without physical intervention:

  7. Total number of incidents requiring physical intervention:

Obviously, the above calculations do not accurately reflect all organizations in the reporting pool.

  8. Total number of clients/students involved in 5 or more incidents requiring physical intervention:

  9. Average length of time (minutes) for physical interventions:

  10. Total number of injuries related to physical intervention over the past year: (Defined as requiring medical follow-up)

  11. Total number of alleged abuse incidents connected to physical interventions:

  12. Have workman’s compensation claims increased or decreased relative to SCM training?

  13. Does debriefing occur routinely after incidents?

  14. Has your organization implemented a “restraint reduction” effort?   If so, what percent per month reduction has occurred?

The 2005 responses recorded by JKM Training reveal consistency in all areas of reporting when compared to data received over the past three years.

The survey results should not be taken as scientific data.  Rather, the results are responses from schools and agencies that have a data collection process and that took the time to respond.  Many schools and agencies do not collect the aggregate data that allows for easy response.
