But, love and I had to wit to win. We drew a circle that took him in.” There must be a circle of caring for these individuals. We believe that there is no substitute for Competency in the adults who deal with at-risk individuals. A myriad of skills must be developed by adults to ensure professional intervention. We believe that adults must be Courageous when they deal with at-risk individuals. This is not the courage of the street, but rather a Professional Courage that requires adults to “Do what’s right, even when it’s difficult.” This means we must work with misbehavior in a way that promotes positive growth and development.
